Clementina's daughter-in-law had never made a cake, so we had baking lessons in my kitchen. the kids (Juan and Alessandra) did most of the work, I just watched...haha! Alessandra is very proud of her first birthday cake!

I'm 29 years old, and have lived in Virginia, Chicago, Michigan, Los Angeles, and now Honduras over the last 10 years. I´m about 6 months away from finishing my volunteer service with Peace Corps. I have truly enjoyed working as a municipal development volunteer and fulfilling a long overdue dream of traveling and working internationally, learning a new language, and using my experience in urban design for public service...Life continues to be challenging and exciting with every new year...im looking forward to the thirties, travelling´after my service, and moving back home to the states...

Anyway, I wanted to say hi and tell you that I have really enjoyed reading your blog. (By the way Joe and Greta introduced me to you at the Maya Hotel in Honduras in July... I am the one who wants to come live in Honduras for a couple of years.) I especially loved reading the interview about your favorites. Since I lived with a Honduran family for 4 years, I can relate to a lot of what you said. I love baleadas too, and I am guilty of using the lip point!!
Anyway, I hope you have a safe trip back to the USA! :)
